Fake Ledger Live app appears in Microsoft App Store

Nearly $600,000, according to cryptocurrency investigator ZachXBT Bitcoin Users who downloaded the above fake Ledger Live app had their BTC stolen Microsoft app store.
On-chain analysts uncover scam ‘Ledger Live’ Network 3On November 5, users were tricked into thinking they were downloading “Ledger Live” – the user interface for the Ledger hardware wallet for offline cryptocurrency storage.
According to reports, the scammer received approximately 16.8 BTC, worth $588,000, in 38 transactions using the wallet address “bc1q….y64q”. Blockchain.com. Approximately $115,200 left the scammer’s wallet in two transactions, leaving $473,800 or 13.5 BTC.

ZachXBT noted in a follow-up post that Microsoft may have removed the fake Ledger Live app from its platform.
The first transaction sent to the scammer’s wallet address occurred on October 24 and was worth $5,210.
Prior to this, the wallet had not been used. Most of these transactions occurred after November 2, with the largest transfer occurring on November 4, worth $81,200.
The search revealed a fake “Ledger Live Web3” application that appeared in the Microsoft App Store as early as October 19.
ZachXBT said it received two messages from victims on November 4, and even argued that Microsoft “should be held responsible” for allowing the fake Ledger Live app to appear in the App Store for you to use.

This isn’t the first time a fake Ledger Live app has infiltrated our app store Microsoft.
Ledger’s support account on X (formerly Twitter) informed users of the fake Ledger Live app on two separate occasions in December and March.

Ledger has yet to comment on the scam, but has previously reiterated to users that the “only safe place” to download Ledger Live is its website, ledger.com.
